Sample investigation file illustrating a Title III multi-building lodging matter. Documents accessible-route discontinuity between accessible parking, designated ADA cottage, and resort facilities (pool, restaurant, spa) on a terraced wine-country campus.
Sample / illustrative
This file is a sample investigation published to illustrate the format used by the Arocho Civil Rights Field Office for lodging matters. No subject entity is implied; no live matter is described.
Standing theory (sample)
The sample standing theory is deterrence under Doran v. 7-Eleven: a person with a mobility-related disability with concrete intent to patronize a lodging property is deterred from booking when website representations are ambiguous about the accessibility of the route between the designated ADA accommodation and resort facilities.
Barrier inventory
Five elements measured; four noncompliant; one within tolerance. See Barrier Findings table for full measurements and standards.
Remediation framework
Each noncompliance is addressed by an established readily-achievable remediation: regrading or surface restoration for slope conditions, closer adjustment or hinge replacement for door-opening force, fixture relocation for restroom turning space, path reconstruction or accessible alternative route for the cottage-to-pool path.
